Millennials Now Viewing Social Security Differently

Drawing on content presented via the 20th Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey of Workers, The Motley Fool’s Maurie Backman concludes that younger folks are changing their views on the role that Social Security will play in their future retirement. Specifically, she notes, “… only 17% of millennials expect Social Security to be their primary source of retirement income … and just 26% of Gen Xers feel similarly.” Her article explains the two primary reasons for this shift in thinking, and offers a warning to not factor expected benefits too heavily into retirement plans.
