There’s little question that Social Security is, or will be, a large and important part of everyone’s retirement plan – more than 50% of those polled believe that Social Security will be a “major” part of their finances in their so-called “golden years.”  Nevertheless, a recent survey revealed that many people don’t have even the most basic understanding of how the program works and, in many cases, harbor beliefs which will turn out to be an unpleasant surprise for them.
