National Guard troops could see their deployments halted one day short

The media is reporting tens of thousands of National Guard troops responding to the COVID-19 pandemic could see their deployments halted one day short of qualifying for retirement and education benefits under the GI Bill.  For a Guard member to qualify for these benefits they need additional deployments within the same fiscal year to gain enough time cumulatively to qualify for early retirement or GI Bill benefits. Numerous state officials have petitioned federal leaders to continue the deployments due to the pandemic but the orders have not been extended.  Read article here…
