Nebraska to Join List of States Not Taxing Social Security Benefits

The Nebraska State Legislature has passed a bill to begin a gradual repeal of the tax levied on Social Security income in that state. Between this year and 2030, the amount of Social Security income subject to state income tax will be steadily reduced until completely gone in 2030. Gov. Pete Ricketts is expected to sign the law, passed by a 41-0 vote. Here’s a post from (Omaha) announcing the step taken. This will reduce the number of states still taxing Social Security revenue to 12.
