Not Everybody Gets Social Security

Many folks work through their careers with the assumption that everybody gets Social Security. In fact, many folks just assume this to be the case, and fail to plan for the possibility that they may be part of the population that does not qualify for Social Security benefits. This situation can be the result of filing early (before full retirement age-FRA), and not understanding the impact of Social Security’s “earnings test” in the years before reaching FRA.
