Obama’s Plan to Subject Social Security Recipients to Gun Background Checks is Already Drawing Fire

As part of its ongoing effort to seek tighter gun-control laws, the Obama administration wants to ban Social Security recipients from owning firearms if they “lack the mental capacity” to manage their own affairs. Under the plan, Social Security recipients would be subject to background checks under the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which is used to prevent gun sales to convicted felons, drug addicts, unauthorized immigrants and others.
