Op-ed: No “Security” In Social “Security”

Author Dennis Miller of The Burning Platform has an op-ed where he says “There is no ‘Security’ in Social Security.” He explains that Social Security does not work the way many think, in that the federal government is not “saving” money for people in their working years to be paid back later to them as Social Security benefits. He explains the Trust Fund and how the fund accumulated surpluses from 1984 to 2021 but that deficits are now depleting the fund. Exhaustion of surpluses (reserves) are expected in about a decade. Full op-ed here.
