Pennsylvania expands property tax, rent rebate for seniors

Some Pennsylvanians who receive Social Security benefits could see some extra cash in their wallets as part of an expansion of the state’s property tax and rent rebate program. The expansion, signed into law by Gov. Tom Corbett recently, raises the income limits of those who can receive rebates. Some applicants were denied rebates because they had received a Social Security cost-of-living adjustment in 2013, pushing them over the income limit of $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters, according to the state Department of Revenue.
