Redesigned Social Security Statement Being Rolled Out Slowly

Back in May of this year, Social Security started a “soft launch” of a new and improved Social Security statement. The new statement is available now only on a very limited basis to selected near-retirees, but early reports are that the improvement is significant because it shows future benefits for each claim age from 62 to 70. Previously, the statement only showed benefits available at age 62, at full retirement age, and at age 70.  Showing benefits available through the entire 8 year range will be very helpful for planning purposes, both for individuals contemplating retirement and those who advise them.
