Remembering Rep. Sam Johnson

The Heritage Foundation’s Rachel Greszler, research fellow in economics, budget, and entitlements in the Institute for Economic Freedom, offers a fitting tribute to the life and accomplishments of Rep. Sam Johnson, who died of natural causes May 27 at age 89. In addition to recapping his military service and his seven years as a POW, Ms. Grezler provides a synopsis of his contributions on the political front as a House of Representatives force. The Association of Mature Citizens (AMAC) followed closely Johnson’s efforts to ensure stability for Social Security, in fact drawing on the thoughts in his proposed Social Security Reform Act of 2016 to add credence to its evolving Social Security Guarantee proposal.
