Retirement for Non-Working Spouses
Many times, those people that spent their entire working lives inside the home not collecting pay checks forget about their options in retirement. They are far from being ineligible for benefits, but often don’t realize what they are entitled to. Stay at home spouses are entitled to 50% of their working partners Social Security payments, and these benefits are not taken out of their partners benefits. This is extra money that they never knew they were entitled to because they assumed that since they didn’t work, they weren’t eligible for benefits.
