Securing Repayments to Social Security - Social Security Administration

In its focus on reducing fraud, the Social Security Administration has announced a change in the process used to repay money owed to Social Security. No longer will SSA suggest people to remit payments by mailed checks or by supplying credit card numbers; rather they are expanding the agency’s secure digital payment options to make repayments faster, safer, and more convenient. This was recently announced by the SSA in a “Dear Colleague” letter to SSA advocates (e.g., the AMAC Foundation) as seen here.

In a related article, additional information about repaying Social Security for overpaid benefits was also discussed is yesterday’s Headline article on this website (www.socialsecurityreport.org).
