Sen. Warren: SSI Reform Needed, Advocates for SSI Restoration Act
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), during a recent Special Committee on Aging, advocated for passage of S. 2065 (Supplemental Security Income Restoration Act of 2021) introduced last June by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), suggesting that “No matter which avenue SSI recipients try to take to lift themselves out of poverty, they will be penalized under current law.” In an article by 401KSpecialist Editor-In-Chief John Sullivan, her concerns for Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) inadequacy are covered and are addressed as part of her call for passage of S. 2065 as a means to raise the SSI benefit rate and reform other SSI rules.
