Sen. Warren’s socialist Social Security reform plan

Even after announcing her plan to reform Social Security, the topic never came up for discussion during the recent Democratic debates. That’s unfortunate, because fixing Social Security’s financial woes is something of major importance to a big segment of our American population. In any case, Sen. Warren’s so-called “reform” plan is welcome because it helps elevate this crucial topic to the political forefront, even though her particular plan is to transform the program into a socialist welfare system by raising taxes, especially on the more affluent among us. And, predictably, the vote-getting promise to increase benefits across the board is a featured part of Sen. Warren’s plan. This article by Philip Moeller, appearing at PBS.org, summarizes Sen. Warren’s plan and adds a dose of reality – it amounts to “sticking it to the rich” and turning Social Security into a “means-tested” program.

AMAC has been at the forefront trying to strengthen Social Security by developing and proposing its Social Security Guarantee.  AMAC has been discussing and continues to discuss this common-sense solution with Congressional Representatives in its efforts to protect America’s senior citizens who rely on Social Security.  To review AMAC‘s Social Security Guarantee, click here.
