Social Security 101 - U.S. News

With Social Security, it’s pretty easy to get caught up in the weeds of this program with over 2000 rules, but sometimes it is a good idea to look at the basics. And that’s what this U.S. News article by Rachel Hartman does – discussing what the Social Security Administration is, how it’s funded, and what kinds of benefits it pays to eligible beneficiaries. An excellent primer on Social Security, it includes (at the end) a series of slides which offer even a bit more detail about how to boost your monthly payment, what happens when you work and collect benefits, how much tax you’ll pay on your earnings, and more. Also, if you’re unsure about how these basics apply to you, or if you have any questions about your individual situation under Social Security, note that the AMAC Foundation provides a free-to-the-public service to help Americans navigate the complexities of this program. Learn more about it here…
