Social Security 101: A primer

Given that the Social Security program is so complex (over 2700 rules and regulations) it’s quite easy to get mired in those complexities when discussing America’s most important financial benefit program for seniors. So many different types of individual and unique circumstances exist, it can sometimes be difficult to “see the forest for the trees.”  The biggest issue is that so many people don’t understand even the most basic aspects of the Social Security system, which makes it especially hard to make the right decision about their own benefits. This WMUR9 (NH) report by Financial Planner Marc Hebert provides a primer on the most basic elements of our Social Security program; sort of a “Social Security 101” class to assist with understanding Social Security.
