Social Security and the Biden Plan: An Interview with Alicia Munnell

In a post on their website, ThinkAdvisor’s Jane Wollman Rusoff recaps an interview with Center for Retirement Research at Boston College director Alicia Munnell addressing the Biden Administration’s plans for fixing the U.S. Social Security System. Citing several pros and cons associated with the plan, but terming the plan “incomplete” due to its inability to fully resolve the long-term funding shortfall, Professor Munnell discusses the attractive portions of the plan (the absence of benefit cuts), but stresses the key missing, the inclusion of a strategy to ensure solvency for the future ( i.e., 75 years out).
