Social Security Appeal Hearings Now Have a Video Option

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced all Social Security offices to be close to public access, in-person appeal hearings were also suspended. Now, Social Security has announced a new online video appeal option to complement the existing telephone hearing option. The new video option requires you have the equipment – essentially a camera-equipped device and internet service – but also allows you to see the Administrative Law Judge who will adjudicate your appeal and allows the judge to see you as well. In this audio segment at WMIX94 radio, Jack Myers of the Social Security Administration discusses the new video appeal hearing process in more detail.
