When you set up your My Social Security online account at SSA.GOV, you are giving yourself 24/7 access to your account, from where ever you happen to be. From finding out the status of your application, to getting a benefit estimate, to requesting a new Social Security card, you can do it all securely from anywhere, as long as you have internet access.
