As Social Security continues to automate and requests that you create a My Social Security Account to avoid contacting them, the list of what you can do online continues to grow.
Most people have been aware for quite some time that you can apply for retirement and disability online with a My Social Security account. But the list of what you can submit online has grown quite substantially. You can file an appeal, submit your earnings if you are required to, request tax withholding, and more.
The first step to avoiding the possible long wait time of getting through to Social Security is to create a My Social Security Account online.
