Social Security introduced “My Social Security Account” online 13 years ago. It helps you see how much more you will need in retirement savings or investments to offset your Social Security benefit to meet your retirement needs.
My Social Security Account has always been helpful, but it has now added some helpful tools. It now has a retirement calculator that allows you to see your monthly benefit from age 62 through age 70. An earnings-based fact sheet that allows you to see how your earnings will affect your Social Security benefit. There is no effect to your benefit if you continue working beyond your full retirement age (FRA), but here you can learn how much Social Security will deduct from your benefit if you earn too much before your FRA.
You can access a benefit letter if you need one as proof of income without having to call Social Security and wait for it to come in the mail. If you lose or don’t receive your SSA-1099, you can access a replacement. You can even request a new Social Security card to be mailed to you.
