Social Security Report Continues its Mission

The AMAC Foundation’s Social Security Report (SSR) website is a news aggregator service that channels relevant news to readers interested in Social Security’s policies, regulations, and breaking news. The website’s role is to connect interested parties to the content of relevant articles and to select articles and informational pieces that provide meaningful information to a wide audience.

For more than a decade, SSR has annually brought thousands of pertinent updates to readers seeking clarification of Social Security’s complexities, updates on legislative issues affecting the program, and a host of reference sources to help them understand. The year just completed was no exception, with 2025 seeing well over a thousand informative pieces covered on the site, with daily postings featuring a range of headline articles and latest news posts covering Social Security procedures, retirement issues, Medicare topics, taxation, and legislative developments.

2025 Saw a Change in SSR Focus

The Social Security Report website is maintained by a rotating editorial staff of trained and accredited AMAC Foundation Social Security Advisors. Prior to 2025, the website’s primary mode was to recirculate relevant information from myriad news sources, adding commentary from the Foundation’s staff to further introduce and, in some cases, extend the topic covered in the news item. Last year, we adopted a change in thinking, with many of the website’s posts reflecting original content developed by Foundation staff and capitalizing on the extensive Social Security knowledge held within its Advisory Staff.

In the first half of 2025, slightly more than a quarter of the SSR daily headline posts took the form of original content from the Social Security Advisory Staff. Mid-year, we concentrated more fully on this approach, increasing this proportion to more than half of the daily headline posts. Included in these original content posts are extensive discussions of arcane Social Security rules (see December 22 post on benefits for divorced spouses), while others provide detailed explanations of Social Security’s complex operations (see July 18 post explaining the concept of wage indexing).

Overall, it’s our way of using this forum to help readers comprehend some of the more esoteric aspects of Social Security! Of course, we welcome any questions our readers have on any issues surrounding Social Security…just submit your queries to SSAdvisor@AmacFoundation.org for a quick response!
