Social Security rules apply to both men and women equally

Social Security rules are gender-neutral; in other words, the same laws apply to men and women equally. The majority of the time, men receive higher Social Security benefits, and the question of spousal and survivor benefits are thought to be only available to women; however, that is not the case in Tom Margenau’s column.
