Some Basics on When and How to File for Social Security

Social Security probably looks fairly complicated for those approaching eligibility for benefits, but for a major portion of the population, the process is somewhat straightforward. There are just some basic (and deceptively simple) questions to ask, like what’s the best age to file, or now that I’ve decided, how do I go about accomplishing the big step? An article posted by Tom Margenau, former director of SSA’s public information office, on mecktimes.com can help you out here. Margenau provides an overview of the important issues to consider when making the decision on when to file, and follows that up with some guidance on how to go about doing it. Read his post here.
