Some Social Security Clarification

There has been much discussion surrounding Social Security recently, much of it on very negative aspects. We have all heard about the insolvency problem facing Social Security within the next couple decades. While this problem is very real and needs to be addressed, the answer is very unlikely to be a reduction in benefits. Proposing reduced benefits is career suicide for any politician, 77% of Americans say they would rather see a tax increase rather than a benefit decrease should it come to that.
