SSA Among Agencies Eyeing Telework As Permanent

While it’s not a totally new concept, “work at home” has taken on new prominence as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. With agencies like Social Security Administratoion, Government Accountability Office, and Homeland Security finding success in adapting work routines to off-site modes and satisfactory ways to monitor productivity, it appears that many will look to make this a permanent way of life for many employees. In fact, SSA’s assistant deputy Borland has suggested that “90% (of SSA workers) are now eligible for telework.” A post on www.govexec.com by Senior Correspondent Eric Katz provides more detail.
