Staying in the Workforce Longer May (or May Not) Increase Your Benefit

Working longer, both before and after filing for Social Security benefits, is becoming more and more the norm. Because of this, many folks question whether this may ultimately increase the size of their monthly benefit. Well, it may or it may not…it depends on the composition of your 35-year work history. For many, it’s unlikely that there would be an increase, since their higher earning years are behind them, but there are situations where the reverse could happen.
