The Average Retirement Investment

Chances are you have a 401(k) as part of your retirement plan, it is one of the most common options in saving for retirement. There are many other options available, and many are used in tandem, but the 401(k) is one of the best ones to look at when comparing the average savings across America. A recent report showed the average balance  in these accounts is just over 100,000 dollars. This number is both good and bad, on one hand it is an increase over the average in 2008, but on the other, it does not stretch very far as a source of income in retirement. These numbers also encompass all workers, not differentiating how far in to their career they are or how far away from retirement they may be.
