The Case for Working Longer & Delaying Social Security

Columnist Justin Fox of The Blomberg View, in a post on www.pressherald.com, analyzes the content of a National Bureau of Economic Research working paper titled “The Power of Working Longer.” The article, and the working paper, study the tradeoffs between savings strategies and worklife extension. Using a hypothetical situation, Fox projects the differences between a late-career acceleration in savings and an extension of that same career by about two and a half years. The conclusions are startling, in a way, and might present a palatable solution to the much-talked-about savings problem facing workers in their mid-career years. Check out the article here…
