The Disparate Effects of Social Security Reductions

Using average benefit calculations as a basis for discussion, Cariaga notes that an across-the-board cut would produce a larger impact on women as a result of the earnings histories used to determine benefits, with the difference further impacted by the tendency of women to retire earlier than men.
