The Importance of Understanding SSDI Eligibility

Tyler Smith, in a post on the American Economic Association’s website, recaps an article from the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, asserting that communications from federal agencies regarding individual eligibility for programs like Social Security Disability Income may not be adequately attracting those who may be benefit. Citing people who are “older with health conditions that interfere with their ability to work, who may have trouble getting to their social security office to find out if they’re eligible,” the article suggests that better-focused communications would promote participation.
