The Scammers Just Don’t Relent!

It’s not really news, but the Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont and Western NC is alerting folks to a continuing scam involving targeted phone calls advising consumers that their Social Security number has been suspended due to suspicious activity in a different state. As in all cases like this, the standard advice is for anyone receiving a suspicious call to report it to SSA directly at 1-800-772-1213. The BBB notes that “(t)he SSA will never call you asking for your Social Security number.
