Although this article describes several important factors as “secret,” they are hardly so. But they are, nevertheless, very important points to know before claiming your Social Security benefits. Specifically, the age at which you claim carries a lot of weight in determining your monthly benefit amount; if you’re married you should always plan as a couple for when each of you should claim your benefits; and you should understand that you may be obligated to pay Federal and State income tax on your Social Security benefits.
