The entire retirement landscape in American has changed. Years ago, working for the same company for a lot of years rewarded you with a pension to help sustain you in your golden years, but those traditional defined benefit retirement plans have largely gone by the wayside, with the notable exception of many public service employees. And there are a couple of other complicating factors – many American seniors are entering retirement with considerable outstanding debt, and the Social Security program future ability to pay out full benefits is in question. All this adds up to a realization that retirement today must take on a completely different strategy than years ago.
