Was the 2025 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) enough? - Yahoo! Finance

Well, almost certainly not, according to Maurie Backman in this Yahoo! Finance article. You see, annual COLA increases are actually “backward looking” – that is, they are based upon inflation which has already occurred, and they may not offset today’s inflation rates. Thus, the inflation experienced in 2025 continues to erode buying power for seniors and, considering current higher 2025 inflation rates, seniors will continue to struggle from higher consumer prices. Inflation is, indeed, an insidious reality which will continue to erode our buying power, as explained in this Yahoo! Finance article by Motley Fool’s Maurie Backman.
