What do you expect to get from Social Security? Most will probably say they have no idea, but nearly everyone will say they want to get the most possible. Regardless of how close you are to actually retiring, it would be smart, even now, to get an estimate of your future Social Security and to start planning how that will fit into your overall retirement planning. Getting an estimate now is fairly easy to do by creating your personal “my Social Security” online account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount. But be careful, because the estimate you will get now is, indeed, just an estimate and your actual benefit may be quite different. How so?
