Preparing for Life in Retirement

Retirement is becoming a longer and longer phase in the average American’s life, and as such demands more and more preparation. Interestingly, the calculations used by the government to estimate longevity shows that the older a person lives, the longer they are expected to live. For example, a 65 year old is expected to live another 21 years according to these estimates, while a 70 year old is expected to live another 17. For this reason it is advised that you put away more than you expect you will need in retirement to make sure that your entire retirement is sufficiently funded and you do not run in to financial problems in your later years.
