Surging Prescription drug costs becomes a campaign issue
In 2014, the cost of prescription drugs had increased more than 12% compared with a 2% growth the years before, prompting both political parties to promise to curb drug prices as part of their healthcare plans. The issue of curbing prescription drugs costs has been escalated to the point that in California an initiative to restrict how much the state could pay for prescription drugs will appear on the ballot this fall.
