Combating Ageist Stereotypes

Ageism is not a new phenomenon, it has plagued every generation in recent history. The spread of ageism is exacerbated today due to the quickly evolving technological landscape. Ageism goes both ways, Millennials are seen as entitled job-hoppers by their seniors while Boomers are thought to be tech-illiterate and “old fashioned” by the younger crowd. As with many things, however, the vocal minority can be confused as the majority because of the noise that they create. Millennials may use technology more than Boomers, but this does not make them more tech savvy. Most of the use Millennials gets out of technology boils down to passive media consumption and entertainment. This is very different from what is used in the workforce by every generation.
