Putting off Retirement
The majority of those nearing retirement age are wholly ill prepared for it. They do not have adequate savings and find themselves in the realization that they cannot live off of Social Security alone. In the past many had no choice, they simply could not work any longer because they were not physically able to. Today, however, the average person is healthy and able bodied enough to continue working for years past retirement age. This comes with many benefits, the main one being that you continue to contribute to your Social Security for each year that you continue working. This also allows a few extra years to save and catch up with your private retirement savings. For more information visit this article by Robert J. Samuelson with The Washington Post.
