Getting By in Retirement

The majority of Americans nearing and entering retirement do not have adequate savings. Many come to rely on Social Security for their primary source of income and learn that it is not enough to sustain them in retirement. There are a few relatively simple ways to supplement your income in retirement. One common way is to supply in home care to elderly or disabled persons. Some of these people need help in or around their home that may not be provided by home nurses such as home maintenance or shopping or running other errands that they have difficulty or can’t do alone. Others pick up the art of “scrapping,” picking up furniture or appliances at yard sales or thrift stores to refinish and resell.
