Statistics on an Aging America
The average life span in America is increasing and bringing with it increased costs in areas such as health care. Baby Boomers are reaching retirement age at a rapid rate and will continue to for the next few decades. Costs will continue to rise for programs such as Social Security and Medicare. Statistics are very important when planning for these increased costs because they can tell us how much we are expected to spend in the future based on the growth of the aging population. We can then extrapolate from this information and come up with the best policies and reforms in order to keep up with the costs.
