The Future of Social Security
There has been much talk on the solvency of the Social Security program since the 2016 Trustee Reports was issued in June. This Repoprt showed that currently Social Security is taking in enough money to cover its expenses until 2019. After that point it will be withdrawing from the trust and will continue to be able to provide full benefits until 2035, at which point benefits will need to be cut by an estimated 21%.
