Vaccines & immunizations: Many are covered by Medicare
Some vaccines and immunizations are covered by Medicare Part B and others are covered by Part D, but it’s important to know which are covered by each part of Medicare, and which are not. Shingles, for example, is not covered by Part B, so if you get that shot at your doctor’s office, you may have to pay for this expensive vaccine out-of-pocket. The Shingles immunization is, however, covered under Medicare Part D, so rather than pay your doctor out-of-pocket, you could choose to get that shot at your local pharmacy which can bill Part D for its services.
