Fixing the retirement savings system: Don’t tamper with the things that work

With tax reform now front and center stage in the political arena, some in D.C. have suggested changing the traditional savings vehicles like IRA’s and 401(k)’s in favor of the Roth IRA, in order to force Americans to use the vehicle that taxes their retirement savings up front.  However, since most Americans favor the tax-deferred vehicles to accumulate retirement savings, tampering with these programs could actually exacerbate the lack of retirement savings issue in our society.  This article by former Congressional Representative Jim McCrery appears at The Hill website and opines that one size does not fit all for retirement savers.  Click here to read more.
