Here’s why you shouldn’t claim Social Security at age 65
For a lot of years, age 65 was viewed as the “normal” age at which a person should or would retire, so it’s not surprising that some folks still hold that view. And that thought is reinforced by 65 being the age at which Americans enroll in the nation’s senior healthcare system known as Medicare. Unfortunately the view that 65 is when you should normally claim Social Security is wrong, because age 65 is no longer the age at which you get your full Social Security benefit and, in fact, claiming at that age could actually hurt you financially.
