Social Security Benefits: The Importance of Patience
A surprisingly high number of folks opt to file for their Social Security benefits at the earliest possible point (age 62), and although this trend is declining a bit, it’s still a high percentage. The result, of course, is that monthly benefits will be much less for early filers than for those who can wait until a later age to file. The Motley Fool’s Selena Maranjian drives this point home with a chart showing the yearly growth in monthly benefits from age 62 to age 70.
