Social Security encourages those on disability to return to work – but is it working?

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits help sustain about 8.6 million disabled American workers, providing an important lifeline to those who are prematurely prevented from working for more than one year. As an encouragement to return to work, there are several programs available to SSDI recipients which help train them and find replacement employment, including most notably the “Ticket To Work” program which allows recipients to test their ability to return to work without jeopardizing their SSDI benefit.
