Saving for Retirement–When Should You Start?

Think back to your first job. Well, to your first paycheck, anyway. You may remember a parent or, more likely a grandparent telling you to start saving immediately and make it a habit going forward to save for your retirement years. Sounds like good advice, but did you follow it? Most likely not, since reports from the Nationwide Retirement Institute suggest that “On average, employees start saving for retirement at age 31.5.” The Motley Fool’s Maurie Backman provides some poignant thoughts on how personal savings can affect your financial well-being in retirement.
