Can I count on Social Security being there for me?

The fact that Social Security has financial issues is fairly well known at this point, giving rise to the question – largely from those yet to start their benefits – as to whether it will be there for them when it’s time for them to retire. In this interesting article by Michelle Singletary appearing in The Washington Post, the author describes the looming financial crisis facing Social Security within the next couple of decades, but also reassures that, in her view, the program will be there for her, and she’s making her own claiming decisions based upon that belief.
